JACOB I don’t like instant messaging. Just thought I’d say that. Jake is doing great & sounds really upbeat. I’m glad. Really, I am. I’m really feeling the reality that my children are growing up. They can let go of my apron strings and do just fine even ACROSS THE WORLD! Really, I’m O.K. with this. Of course I wouldn’t want it any other way but still it makes me a little sad. I wish I could give you some newsy info about what’s going on in Ethiopia but IM just doesn’t seem a very effective way to communicate for us. So far, all I know is that he’s been careening around the streets of Addis with Joe narrowly missing pedestrians. Please don’t be alarmed he assures me this is the way everyone drives ;o? He went out with Malachi & the well drilling team today. Hopefully we’ll get a good long email soon and I’ll have a better idea what’s going on in his world. Anthony set him up a gmail account so we could chat and email- if you’d like to send him a note let me know and I’ll give you the address.
BLESSING OF NEEDS MET
We visited with the Buchanan family last Sunday night & had a great time. Some kind soul had blessed them with a box of baby clothes but they were to small for Talis so Lyndy passed them to Josiah. Let me just say, he is too cute in the little overalls he’s wearing today! I’d post a pic but my camera is in Africa being put to better use (I hope). It seems like a strange thing to get excited about but it was a specific answer to prayer. All my childrens lives I have had a circle of friends that I shared baby clothes back and forth with & I haven’t had that with Josiah. Most of my friends are either past having children or have girls. I will admit that actually buying baby boy clothes was fun at first but the thrill has worn off and heading into another winter I was very excited to recieve this wonderful blessing from Lyndy. Thanks!
ICING ON THE CAKE
We were advised not to pack much for Jacobs trip and to defininatly not go over 50 pounds per bag & somehow I got it into my head that this must be a very difficult thing to do. After packing all Jacob needed for 10 days we weighed the suitcase and I was surprised it only weighed 13 pounds. Les called Anthony the next day & asked if we could send some stuff for an orphanage since we had alot of room to spare. After lots of moving things around we managed to send almost all our baby clothes. The children were very excited to get to do this & I was very thankful to see my kids excited about giving to others. Here’s my guilty confession– I paused over the stack of brand new Gymbo clothes that Josiah (because he’s an ox) had never gotten the chance to wear. For a brief moment I told myself that the orphanage didn’t really need those things & I should save them, ya know, just in case I need them again. Only a brief moment. They all went & what a blessing to our family to be able to send them. That was Tuesday & today we went to the mailbox and found a package for Josiah. Guess what was inside? Two sweet new outfits from Gymboree & a LARGE Gymbo gift card . THANK YOU SO MUCH! I love the blue velour outfit! It will be so sweet and cozy and came just when we needed it. Maybe there is no spiritual significance there, but really doesn’t everything have spiritual significance?
What is Jake looking at?

That is an admission token for a film at the Creation Museum. It is a small, round piece of black foam. Jacob, being a rather odd bird, noticed its resemblance to the ‘Black Spot’ that seals the doom of pirates in Treasure Island, which explains the expression on his face.
